ABOUT THIS PROJECT

No More Data Centers

No More Data Centers is an independent editorial hub dedicated to documenting the real-world environmental and community cost of America's data center boom. While the digital "cloud" is often treated as something weightless and invisible, every byte of data lives on physical hardware โ€” hardware that consumes enormous amounts of electricity and water, generates noise and air pollution, and reshapes the land and neighborhoods around it.

We publish researched, source-cited reporting on water usage, energy consumption, land displacement, noise pollution, electronic waste, public health concerns, policy fights, and the growing grassroots resistance to unchecked data center expansion. Our work pulls from peer-reviewed studies, government data, investigative journalism, and the first-hand experiences of residents living next door to these facilities.

This site is for the people most affected and most concerned: neighbors organizing against new construction, local officials weighing zoning decisions, journalists, researchers, students, and anyone who wants to understand what the AI infrastructure rush is actually costing our communities. Alongside our archive, we host an interactive impact map, a community forum where residents can share their own stories, and tools to estimate your local footprint.

No More Data Centers is built and maintained by a small group of independent volunteers and contributors, funded entirely by voluntary community donations. We are not affiliated with any corporation, political party, or industry group โ€” our only agenda is transparency about the hidden weight of the cloud.
