My Objective and Why I'm Doing This

Let me start by stating a few things that may not be obvious:

• I am in favor of progress.
• I'm fascinated by technology.
• Most interestingly, perhaps, I'm not even necessarily anti-AI, although I have many concerns about its mission to displace workers, and with it, disrupt lives, significantly raise unemployment, and cause general misery to the people it touches.

AI has its purposes, which are noble, such as in the field of science or mathematics, where answers to complex questions and problems can be answered in an abbreviated period. If it can help cure certain diseases by identifying factors faster than humans, that is fantastic.

But the simple fact of the matter is that for most people, AI is just a buzzword that sounds exciting, just as the dot.com era sounded super exciting and promising…until it burst, and it was not.

With over 4,273 data centers nationwide, established and planned, as you can see on the heat map, we are oversaturated with data centers that with them bring their own problems.

Communities are pitched by data centers on the wonderful benefits of data centers, like tax revenue (always promised high, normally, though, it comes in lower than stated), jobs (many short-term jobs while building, few long-term jobs afterwards), and how the data centers won't impact the community.

The problem with this argument is that in almost every community where data centers are located, problems and lies start to expose themselves. Take Fayetteville, GA, where the data center owned by Blackstone said that with their closed loop cooling system, they did not need the water to cool the heat producing racks of servers.

Until they did. They built a water line into the town's supply and siphoned off 29 million gallons of water. Sure, they paid $150,000 retroactively, but the question remains: if they did not need water to cool the system, what did they do with 29 million gallons of the stuff? Thousands of people flushing, or a million Olympic sized pools to fill?

The burden on the town was significant loss of water pressure, restrictions on watering lawns, and any additional costs or burdens placed upon the townspeople. If I were in Fayetteville, I would say it's fine, thanks for paying, now we are cutting off water except for essentials like toilets and sinks. You said you didn't need it, so we won't provide it for you.

I encourage everyone to do their own research…actual research, and I think you'll see the negative impacts of these never-ending data centers. They can't keep justifying by saying it's progress, or soon, we'll have no businesses and homes, through eminent domain, will disappear.

Please read all areas of this site, feel free to comment, share, anything to get the word out. You can stop the proliferation of data centers, but you must plan early, know what to look for and know what you say.
